She was beautiful, really, with her long white fur, and her emerald green depths. She was everything a male wanted in a mate, or so it seemed. Winterfall, warrior of Shadowclan, had long been waiting for her true love to be ready to settle down... After all, if she wanted it, shouldn't he? I guess not. Crowflight, the deputy of her clan, had been there through thick and thin for her and she loved him deeply, however; he was holding her back and she knew she'd never have the life she wanted if she kept waiting for him, which was exactly what she planned to bring up to him when he met her. Today, they were going on their weekly walk, mostly just a long rant where she complained about everything wrong and he promised to fix it, but on occasion there was some interesting topics.

She sighed deeply, staring up at the tall trees that engulfed her. Shadowclan, what a wonderful place to live... Not. She really hated this clan and probably wouldn't of left if it wouldn't of been for the fact that she was a "legacy", her father was the leader before the current one. He had been the one to promote Crowflight, just before he died. Her mother, a small girl who was merely an apprentice at the time of winter's birth, was of the same opinion and had always wanted Winter to be with Crowflight.

In fact... everyone but him wanted them together, and even he had his moments. She was more of a quick thrill for him and she knew that that would probably never change, or at least, not until they were much older... And she didn't want to be an old mother. Period. She wanted several litters, not just one, and if he delayed her much longer, she wouldn't have the time.

[SHADEYY BEAR ?!]

Crowflight walked through the shadowy forest, his mind on everything except hus duities... as always. Winterfall had been pressuring him a lot lately into settling down and having children, but... he just couldn't throw away this life of freedom. Crowflight was just too untamable to settle down. He loved Winterfall, true, but she just wasn't who he saw himself spending forever as a mate with.

"Hello, Winter." he murmured as he enterred the grove of trees she inhabitted. "How are you today?"

winter looked at him coldly. does he even care? does he understand? she shook her head as if she were an elder watching kits play. don't. just don't, crowflight. her words were bitter and sharp, she had had enough of waiting, of post poning their mating, of putting her life on hold for him. she had missed out on so much already... he may be her bestfriend, but she understood now that that was where he was meant to stay. they had their time, true, but they both knew it would never get anymore serious than that.

i can't keep waiting for you... you are still a child and my life is passing me by. i need to find a mate, a real mate, who wants what i want. her words were pained. he was who she had always wanted, but knew she would never truly get. why does he do this to me? why can't he just sacrifice a little? i've thrown away my entire life for you, and it's just not worth the pain anymore. it was your choice and you kept me around as a toy. just a toy.

she shudderred, she had always imagined doing this but winter... she wasn't the most confrontive person in the world. she preferred to just let things happen, and sometimes, yes, she got stepped on.. more often than not, actually. she had let crowflight stomp all over her and now she finally realized her dreams were more important than chasing him. i'm sorry i wasn't worth more to you.
