GORSEHEART
NAME:
Gorseheart
AGE:
32 moons
GENDER:
She-cat
CLAN:
ShadowClan
RANK:
Medicine Cat
PERSONALITY:
Gorseheart's personality is very unusual for as pretty a she-cat as she is. To put things bluntly, she likes dead things, and doesn't mind the carnage of a war-torn battlefield. Now, that might sound a little cruel and... eccentric, but it is very practical for a medicine cat. A functioning medicine cat can't be one that is cringing at the very sight of blood and crying over every life that can't be saved. In fact, her indifference and even fascination with death is the sole reason that she was chosen as medicine cat apprentice all those moons ago.
Gorseheart's thinking pattern is strictly logical. She quickly dismisses anything abstract or illogical. In her mind, if it is not logical and/or easily proven, it doesn't exist. Well, then, the question is: how can she be a medicine cat if her beliefs are completely logical? How could she believe in StarClan? Lucky for her, she's seen StarClan face-to-face, like any other medicine cat, so she is able to logically believe in them.
Gorseheart wasn't picked as a medicine cat apprentice for sensitivity, in case you can't already tell. She was picked because she had much intellectual potential. She had always loved to learn, to solve puzzles, which is why she loves her job as medicine cat so much. She also wants to make her family proud of her, despite any idiosyncrasies, which she has accomplished so far. Even though she seems... odd at times, most of ShadowClan can agree that they have a gifted and lovable medicine cat.
DESCRIPTION:
At first glance, you would think of Gorseheart as a delicate, empathetic she-cat, because she certainly looks like one. With her thin muscles and plush, light colored calico fur, she appears anything but sadistic. Even her speech is soft and calming, not menacing. Her gait is long and graceful, aided by her rather long legs and fluidly moving tail. If Gorseheart were a warrior, she'd probably be one of the she-cats that relied on strategy and agility in battle, similar to a WindClanner. She has a soft, pink nose, short, white whiskers, and teal eyes. Truly unpredictable, looks are. You think that she'd be one of those battle-scarred, tom-like she-cats instead of as a delicate one as she really is.

HISTORY:
Gorsekit was born to a she-cat named Dustflower and a tom named Darkpelt, along with her sister, Brightkit. Both of her parents were young, loyal ShadowClan warriors, and, other than a the occasional scuffle with her sister, her early life was rather uneventful.
This all changed when she turned five moons old.
It was a quiet evening. Since she and her sister were near apprentice age, their mother decided to leave her kits with their father and do some hunting. She didn't return until her bloodstained body was brought back to camp by a search party the next morning. She had been killed by a Monster; apparently, she came too close to the Thunderpath.
Naturally, Darkpelt didn't want his two daughters to see their mother as roadkill, so he tried to keep them in the nursery. While Brightkit obeyed her father's orders and silently wept in the nursery, curious Gorsekit (seemingly unphased at the news that her mother was killed, may I note) wanted to see her mother, so she sneaked out of the nursery to catch a glimpse of Dustflower's corpse. It was extremely horrific, and would have certainly traumatized any normal kit. However, Gorsekit only left when she was noticed by her grieving father, who rushed her back into the nursery. She reluctantly remained there and comforted Brightkit.
Darkpelt, overprotective of his daughters because of his grief, asked the medicine cat, a tom named Seedshadow, to give Gorsekit a psychological check-up to see if the glimpse of a gory corpse did anything to her mind. For the next few days, the tom looked her over, asked her questions, and observed her behavior, only to report to her father every day that she was acting perfectly normal- if you didn't include the factor that her mother had been brutally killed! Eventually, Darkpelt accepted that she wasn't acting out of confused grief and that she was, instead a little touched in the head. Though he admitted that she was eccentric, he accepted her quirks and swelled with pride when Seedshadow told him that Gorsekit's indifference was a wonderful trait for a medicine cat, and that his quirky daughter had found the perfect place in the world for herself; she would be using her oddities as a gift from StarClan to remain sane in times of death and near endless carnage (YAY carnage! xD)- when her clan needed a medicine cat the most. She would become Seedshadow's apprentice.
The night she was named Gorsepaw, while she was asleep, she was greeted by her mother in a dream. She told her how proud she was that her daughter would become one of the select few privileged to serve ShadowClan as their medicine cat. She felt happy that she had died, and that her death helped Seedshadow to realize her potential. She wished her luck, and assured her that the two would walk together in dreams until they were reunited eternally in StarClan. She warmly nuzzled her mother before waking up.
The next six moons of her life were filled with gentle training from her loving mentor, and isolation from the other apprentices. Being a medicine cat apprentice alone kept you away from socializing with other apprentices your age, but with her idiosyncrasies (she had upgraded to dissecting her prey), there was no hope for her social life. The only cat her age that understood her was her sister, Brightpaw, who was usually too busy with training to talk with Gorsepaw for more than a few minutes. She was supported by both her father and sister throughout her training, and was constantly told by her father that her mother would have been proud of her exploiting her alleged weaknesses as strengths.
She was named a full medicine cat after she tended to several critically injured warriors after a battle (this was made possible because she didn't freak out at seeing such gruesome injuries), most of whom survived; those that didn't would have probably died in the care of even the most skilled medicine cat. She was named Gorseheart for her strong heart that remained unbroken even in the death of a loved one.
A few moons after that, Seedshadow died. He had been pretty old when he had taken Gorseheart as his apprentice, and it was expected that he would pass soon. His death was peaceful- he simply went to sleep and woke up in StarClan. Gorseheart actually felt some sadness in his death. Seedshadow had been very close to her- one of the few cats that understood and accepted her. However, with comfort from her father and sister (now Brightgaze), she soon got over any grief she had felt, and was ready to provide a calm figure in hard times, to heal her companions, to serve ShadowClan.
I "recycled" her from another site, that's why I have the bio up so quickly :3
